RATNANAGAR, Nepal – A wild animal rescue and rehabilitation centre is to be set up in Chitwan.
This would be the first such rescue and rehabilitation centre for the injured and helpless wild animals in the country.
The Department of National Parks and Wildlife has taken initiatives for setting up the centre in the areas around Sauraha of Chitwan, said the Department’s Director General Tikaram Adhikari.
Adhikari said proposal has been received for building such centre at Kumroj and the necessary preparations have been started for the same.
The government has allocated Rs 4 million through the Ministry of Forests and Soil Conservation for the centre. It is learnt the locals will collect an equal amount. The programme for building the centre will start from next month, he added.
