Overview

Pisang Peak climbing is the most popular trekking peak in Annapurna Region of Nepal. Located just behind the Annapurna range and rising in a shape of Pyramid, the Pisang Peak is ascent first in 1955 by a German Expedition. Although Pisang Peak Climbing is easier comparing to Mera and Pisang peaks, it is considered as a technical one to climb among climbing peaks in Nepal. So it is suitable for those passionate trekkers who have little climbing or rock climbing experience with sound physical health.

This trip starts from the lowland of Besisahar and gain altitude steadily passing through the oak and pine forest, exploring beautiful and ethnic villages eventually reach Pisang village. Further, the trail ascends northward to meadow of Kharka where base camp is set up and then technical climbing starts from high camp before attempt Pisang Peak through well marked steep ridge. Pisang Peak Climbing offers the splendid view of Annapurna II, Annapurna IV, Gangapurna, Tilicho Peak and the Glacier Dome. The trail follows same route back to Pisang village and further climb northwest to longest pass, Thorongla. From pass the descend trail lead to most popular religious site of Muktinath, pristine Tibetan cultural village Jarkot, picturesque Kagbeni Village, holiest Kali Gandaki River formed deepest gorge and finally into capital of Mustang district, Jomsom where our adventure trip end after taking earlier flight in next morning.

Itinerary

Day 1Arrive in Kathmandu

Upon arrival in the Kathmandu Airport (TIA), you will be welcomed and greeted by our representative and then transfer to the hotel. After check in, you can either take rest; hang around in the city as it all depends upon your interests. In the evening, we will organize a Welcome Dinner at an excellent traditional Nepalese restaurant where you will enjoy a Nepalese cultural program as well as a fine meal.

Day 2Kathmandu: Sightseeing and Trek Preparation

Today after breakfast we will start a guided tour to several of the most historical and spiritual attractions in Kathmandu. Some of these landmarks are considered World Heritage Sites; including the historic Durbar Square, the famous ‘Monkey Temple’ or Swayambunath, the sacred Hindu temple of Pashupatinath and Buddhists shrine of Bouddhanath which is one of the largest Stupas in the world. In the afternoon, there will be a pre-trip discussion where we can meet our trek leader and other team members. Black Diamond briefs us regarding the trip as well as provides us an opportunity to ask any questions we may have regarding our upcoming adventure.Overnight in Kathmandu, Hotel Encounter Nepal.

Day 3Kathmandu to Besisahar by Bus

After early breakfast, we get transfer to Bus Park. We ride a local bus to Besisahar. Around 8 hours drive along the Trishuli River and Marshyangdi River, passing through beautiful landscapes and small villages bring us to Besisahar (850 m). From Besisahar, we can see stunning snow-capped mountains. Overnight in a Tea house/ Lodge.

Day 4Besisahar to Bahundanda

Today is our first day of trekking. The trail is several ups and downs through hills, we pass through waterfalls, streams, terrace fields, subtropical forest and beautiful villages. After breakfast, we follow northern trail along the Marshyangdi River. Crossing suspension bridge we walk gradually to Bhulbhule, the village of Gurung community. After passing by Ngadi village we cross Nagdi River and hike up till we reach Bahundanda (Hills of Brahmins).Overnight at a Teahouse/Lodge

Day 5 Bahundanda to Chamje

After breakfast, we descend steeply through terrace field and then gradual walk along the Marshyangdi River passes by beautiful and culturally rich villages, waterfalls and lush forest. After crossing the suspension bridge we pass by Dyange village and following narrow, ups and downs trail reach Jagat. After then we climb gradually up through the forest to reach Chamje. Overnight at a Teahouse/ Lodge.

Day 6Chamje to Dharapani

After breakfast we leave the Chamje crossing the suspension bridge and we walk uphill along the river, following narrow trail passes through forest of Rhododendron and bamboo and enter into Manang district before reach in Tal village, once there was a lake. We leave Tal village crossing the river and continue walk uphill through stone stairway. Following some ups and down through cliffy trial and passing by Karte village we reach Dharapani. Overnight at a Tea house/ Lodge.

Day 7Dharapani to Chame

After breakfast we climb steadily through the forest and to Bagarchhap, the Tibetan village consist typical flat-roofed stone houses. There is a chance of the landslide, so we have to be watchful. We can see Annapurna II and Manaslu from here in clear weather. We follow the trail through the jungle along the Marshyangdi River and reach another beautiful Timang village. On the way, we are greeted by beautiful Himalayas view. Further we descend to Thanchowk and then steadily climb to Kote village and then steep climb bring us to Chame, the headquarter of Manang district from where we can see stunning view of Mt. Lamhung, and Annapurna II. Overnight at a Tea house/ Lodge

Day 8Chame to Upper Pisang

Today most of the route is through the narrow gorge and dense pine forest. After breakfast, we climb steadily passing through beautiful villages of Talekhu and Bhratang. Further we pass by curved rock face, dramatically raised 1500 m from the river. After crossing river, we climb steep up through the jungle and reach beautiful Dhukure Pokhari. As the trail gets flatten and widen to Pisang, we find ourselves surrounded by beautiful snowcapped mountains. Further, we climb a big hill about half an hour to reach Upper Pisang. Day 9Day for relax and acclimatize

Today is our rest day. Check all gears and set up for climbing. Drink a lot of water, explore the village and enjoy the splendid view of Annapurna Himalayan range, Gangapurna and Tilicho. Overnight at a Tea house/ Lodge.

Day 10 Trek to Pisang Peak Base Camp

Today we climb up towards Base Camp. After breakfast we ascend upward through pine forest and as we gain altitude the vegetation become bushes and then vanish. Enjoying the view of valley and Annapurna range we reach pasture land to Kharka where we set our camp for overnight. Enjoy the delicious food prepared by our cook. Overnight at a Tea house/ Lodge.

Day 11Trek to Pisang Peak High Camp

Today we gain good height to High Camp. After breakfast we climb up bare land steadily through south west ridge and reach to High Camp. There will be snow from December to March. Enjoy the panoramic view of Annapurna range, Chulu East, Chulu Far East, Nawal peak, Tilicho peak and many other unnamed mountains and peaks. Recheck the gears and set up for next day climbing. Overnight in tented camp.

Day 12Summit to the Peak and back to Base Camp

Today is our main adventure day to make success our dream of Summit on Pisang Peak. We set out early in the morning to climb Pisang Peak. We climb up steep trail through well defined ridge. Following the guide and with the help of fixed rope we climb the summit of Pisang Peak. We take time in summit to admire breathtaking closer panoramic view of Annapurna range, Chulu East, Chulu Far East, Nawal peak, Tilicho peak, Manaslu, Ganesh Himal, the Tibetan mountains, Kang Guru Peak, Gyaji Kang peak, Tilje peak, Kuchubhro peak, and many more. Finally we trek back down to the Base Camp. Overnight in tented camp.

Day 13Reserve day for contingency

The weather condition in high altitude cannot be guaranteed. If the weather is poor we were not able to continue on the summit on day 12. Sometimes somebody in a group may get a problem in acclimatize the high altitude. So today is our reserved day and continue to summit if any unforeseen matters obstructed our way on day 12. If the trip goes smoothly, we do not need this reserve day. Overnight at a tented camp.

Day 14Pisang Peak Base Camp to Manang

After breakfast we trek back to Pisang Village and continue towards Manang village. First we trek through pine forest and then leveled path of Marshyangdi River. Enjoying the beautiful views of Himalayas and passes through Manang Airport of Humde Valley, culturally rich, beautiful and hidden Munchi, Braga villages finally we reach at renowned, culturally rich and pristine beautiful village of Manang. Explore traditional lifestyle of Manangi People. Overnight at a Tea house/ Lodge.

Day 15Manang to Yak Kharka

After breakfast we start trek viewing beautiful picturesque Gangapurna Lake situated on the base of Mt. Gangapurna and Mt. Annapurna. Leaving Marshyangdi River and following Thoring Khola we walk well marked trail through bared land, enjoying the beautiful view of Himalayas, passing by chortons, mani wall, through small village of Tangi, Ghusang and crossing ghyanchang Khola we finally reach at Yak Kharka. Enjoy the close up view of Mt. Chulu, Annapurna, Gangapurna, Tilicho. Overnight at a Tea house/ Lodge.

Day 16Yak Kharka to Thorong Phedi

After breakfast we continue to climb up to Ledar passing by landslide area and crossing small stream. From there we descend down along the Kane River and after crossing the bridge we climb steep trail to Thorong Phedi, a small settlement situated at the bottom of Thorong La pass. Overnight at Tea house/ Lodge.

Day 17Cross Thorong la in morning and back to Muktinath

Today is the longest and difficult day as we have to cross one of the highest and longest pass, the Thorong La. We start early in the morning. After early breakfast we climb steep trail gradually to avoid problem arise by altitude. Snow often makes the crossing more difficult. The hard effort to reach Thorong La and cross it will be rewarded by magnificent high Himalayan view. From pass we continuously descend long down to Muktinath, a place of Nirvana and home of Muktinath Temple, Jwala Mai Temple and several monasteries. Overnight at a Tea house/ Lodge.

Day 18Trek down to Kagbeni

Today is easy and short day. After leisure breakfast we trek down to Kagbeni. On the way we explore culturally rich village of Ranipauwa and then Jharkot which offers unique scenery combination of dry hills with green field. Overnight at a Tea house/ Lodge.

Day 19 Trek to Jomsom

Today is our pleasant and final walking day. We trek down through the sand bank of Kali Gandaki River. Kali Gandaki River is a dwell of shaligram (fossils). While we walk from riverside, we take few times to search fossils. It is believed to be good luck to find natural fossils. Enjoying the beautiful view of Himalayas and picturesque landscapes we reach the head quarter of Mustang, the Jomsom where culturally rich Thakali people reside. Later we can visit ecological museum and Dhumba Lake. We enjoy the beautiful close up view of Mt. Nilgiri, Tilicho, Tukuche Peak and Dhaulagiri. Overnight at a Tea house/ Lodge

Day 20Early morning flight to Pokhara

After early breakfast we fly back to Pokhara flying above the deepest gorge, Kali Gandagi, formed in between Mt.Annapurna and Mt. Dhaulagiri. This Trans Himalayan flight offers very best views of surrounding Himalayas. After 25 minutes flight we reach Pokhara. Whole day is free. We can relax in hotel or you can do sightseeing of Pokhara Valley on your own. Overnight at Hotel Middle Path.

Day 21Pokhara to Kathmandu by drive

After breakfast we drive back to Kathmandu through hilly road along the Marshyangdi River and Trishuli River enjoying the beautiful landscapes. After around 6 hours drive we reach Kathmandu. Late afternoon you can do last minute shopping or just do relax in hotel memorizing the adventure climbing. Late evening we celebrate dinner together for successfully completing Pisang Peak Climbing. Day 22Final Departure

After breakfast you are free till departure time. Approximately 3 hours before your scheduled flight a representative from Black Diamond will take you to the airport.

Accomodation

You will be accommodated in Hotel Encounter Nepal or a similar category’s hotel in Kathmandu, and basic tea houses/guest houses/tents during the Pisang peak climb when climbing with Black Diamond Expedition.
On most Pisang peak climbs, the tea houses or lodges serve rooms on a twin-sharing basis with an attached bathroom and hot shower facilities. Single-supplement rooms are served with an extra charge of USD 350. However, it may be difficult to get one at higher points or during the peak season of trekking.
Some of the tea houses in this trekking region in both lower and higher elevations may have shared bathrooms and toilet facilities.

Meals

Your meal plan in Kathmandu includes only breakfast while you are on the Pisang peak climbing, there are three-course meals will be served during the treks.
The tea house where we spend an overnight will serve us a balanced diet for breakfast and dinner whereas lunch is taken at one of the tea houses on the way to our next destination. Black Diamonds has also prepared a special Welcome and Farewell dinner for the guests following a cultural performance in Kathmandu.

Best time to Pisang peak climb

The best seasons for trekking to the Pisang peak climb are Autumn (September to December) and Spring (March to May). During these seasons, you’ll encounter favorable weather conditions with moderate temperatures, clear skies, and captivating natural vistas. However, visits during other seasons also have their advantages, such as fewer crowds and often lower prices compared to peak seasons. The ever-changing weather conditions allow you to appreciate the diverse facets of the landscapes.

While climbing pisang peak, it is essential to pack necessary items wisely. You should be sure to pack the stuff appropriately because you will be trekking through the rough terrain in high-altitude areas and it will be difficult to carry all the stuff and trek.
