Kathmandu Chisapani Nagarket trek takes place in the north eastern suburb of Kathmandu valley, which homes a minimum of seven UNESCO World Heritage sites. After an hour’s drive from Kathmandu to Sundarijal, from where the real trek starts and continues upto Chisapani, where you will be enjoying the real flavour of nature being away from the crowded city. This trek offers an exciting uphill walk through the rhododendron forest of the Shivapuri national park.
Trekkers have an opportunity to have a spectacular mountain view from the view point of Chisapani. One of the best highlight of this trek is to have an eye catching view of a long range of Eastern Himalayan ranges from Langtang to Gaurishankar Range. The trekking trail leads us through some ethnic villages and mostly through a dense and beautiful forest, listening to birds chirping and enjoying the mesmerizing view of the Himalayas. If you are lucky enough, you can even meet wild fowls and sometimes deer. It also offers a mesmerizing Sunrise and other spectacular mountain views such as Mt. Everest from Nagarkot.

Today after breakfast we will start a guided tour to several of the most historical and spiritual attractions in Kathmandu. Some of these landmarks are considered World Heritage Sites; including the historic Durbar Square, the sacred Hindu temple of Pashupati Nath, the famous ‘Monkey Temple’ (Swayambunath) and Buddhists shrine (Bauddha Nath) which is one of the large Stupas in the world. Today, after breakfast, we will drive from Kathmandu to Sundarijal which takes approximately one hour and trek from Sunjdarijal to Chisapani takes about half hours. Then, the trail will enter through the Shivapuri National Park. The first settlement you will come across is Mulkharka with Tamang inhabitants with unique settlements. Our route heads down the ridge through a forest of oak and rhododendron to Chisapani (2050m). Overnight in a lodge in Chisapani.

Today, after breakfast, we will continue our trek from Chisapani to Nagarkot which takes about six hours. The trekking trail takes us through beautiful landscapes and rhododendron forest with occasional views of the mountains. Finally, we reach Nagarkot, (2175m) which is by far one of the most popular tourist destinations in Nepal. If the weather is clear, we will view the mesmerizing Sunset along with spectacular views of the Himalayan range. You will enjoy the best view of Kathmandu valley from here. Overnight in a hotel in Nagarkot.

Today, we get up early in the morning about 4:30 am to see the mesmerizing Sunrise and mountain view. After that, we have our breakfast and then hike to Changunarayan. Then, we will visit Changunarayan temple. This temple is said to be the oldest Hindu temple still in use in the Kathmandu Valley. Built in the two-tiered pagoda style, the main shrine here is guarded on all sides by pairs of real and mythical beasts – elephants, lions, winged lions and ram-horned griffons – and its roof struts feature some amazingly intricate carvings of Tantric deities. You will indeed have a pleasant stay here by seeing the carvings in the temple. In the late afternoon, we will board on our private car return to our hotel in Kathmandu.

Our scheduled hike to Chisapani and Nagarkot comes to an end today! One of the representatives from Black Diamond Expedition will escort you to Tribhuvan international airport approximately 3 hours prior to your scheduled flight for the next destination.

You will be accommodated in Hotel Encounter Nepal or a similar category’s hotel in Kathmandu, and basic tea houses/guest houses during the trek when trekking with Black Diamond Expedition.
On most Chisapani Nagarkot Treks, the tea houses or lodges serve rooms on a twin-sharing basis with an attached bathroom and hot shower facilities. Single-supplement rooms are served with an extra charge of USD 50. This is for the Chisapani Nagarkot trek but if you go on a different trek then will be more expensive than this. However, it may be difficult to get one at higher points or during the peak season of trekking.
Some of the tea houses in this trekking region in both lower and higher elevations may have shared bathrooms and toilet facilities.
Your meal plan in Kathmandu includes only breakfast while you are on the trek, there are three-course meals will be served during the trekking.
The tea house where we spend an overnight will serve us a balanced diet for breakfast and dinner whereas lunch is taken at one of the tea houses on the way to our next destination. Black Diamonds has also prepared a special Welcome and Farewell dinner for the guests following a cultural performance in Kathmandu.
The best seasons for hiking to the Chisapani Nagarkot are Autumn (Sept to Dec) and Spring (March to May). The weather is sunny and warm making the views outstanding in these seasons. The weather condition is the primary issue during the Winter (Jan to Feb) season for hiking to ChisaPani Nagarkot. The region offers a freezing cold during winter. Just opposite to this, Chisapani Nagarkot Hiking gets affected by monsoons during Summer/ rainy season (June to August). Nevertheless, this time is the appropriate time for a keen and enthusiastic Botanist.
