Overview

Annapurna Base Camp Trek is one of the most exciting treks in Nepal. The eleven days itinerary is meticulously designed for trekkers having time constraint but are desirous to visit the Annapurna Base Camp. The trekking trails of the Annapurna Base Camp Trek provide us with the ever-changing views from the landscape of the fields, misty forests and lowland local villages to the highland glaciers right from the beginning of the trek from the beautiful lake city of Pokhara.

Annapurna Base Camp trekking offers the eyecatching view of the magnificent snowcapped mountains such as Mt. Machhapuchhre (Fishtail), Mt. Annapurna and Mt. Dhaulagiri. Itinerary

Day 1Arrive in Kathmandu

Upon arrival in the Kathmandu Airport (TIA), you will be welcomed and greeted by our representative and then transfer to the hotel. After check in, you can either take rest; hang around in the city as it all depends upon your interests. 

Day 2Kathmandu to Pokhara Drive

Early morning after breakfast, you’ll begin on a 6-7 hour drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara, enjoying breathtaking landscapes and lush greenery along the way. The journey consists of well-paved highways in the initial part, however, expect some narrow and winding roads as you proceed near pokhara. Upon arrival, you will be transferred to your hotel and you can give yourself some relaxation time after that long drive.  Overnight in Pokhara.

Day 3Drive to Kyumi and trek to Chomorong

After breakfast, we will drive towards Kyumi to start our trek, initially with a few hours of walking on the terrain. Soon, we will reach Jhinu Hot Spring, where you can take a break and relax. Then, you climb for an hour to reach Chomorong. Chomrong is a picturesque village nestled in the lap of the towering Annapurna range.  Here, you can immerse yourself in Gurung culture and traditions. Overnight in Chomorong.

Day 4Chomrong to Dovan

We head out of Chhomrong along the Modi Khola leaving behind inhabited foothills into the high step and wooded slopes of Himalayas. We cross the suspension bridge then trek up to Sinuwa Danda. The ascent from Sinuwa becomes somewhat flatter. The trail passes through thick and dark rhododendron forest up to Khuldighar. Then, we descend a long and steep stone steps into deep bamboo and rhododendron forests through which we reach Doban shortly.

Day 5Dovan to Deurali

The day starts with gentle gradual ascend following the trail above the river through a thick bamboo, oak and rhododendron forests up the side of the canyon. Pass by Himalaya Hotel. We cross two streams over small bridges. The trail passes through solitary places. Wilderness of the mother nature gives piece to our mind. There is also the possibility of seeing a variety of species of wildlife such as wild pig, deer, snow leopard, etc. Climb again to the Hinko Cave, an overhanging rock. Climbing further arrive at Deurali. Overnight in Deurali.

Day 6Deurali to MBC

Today we start our trek to Machhapuchre Base Camp (MBC). At first a gentle climb through a river bed rises steeply over the mountain side. These are avalanche prone areas at some point on the trail, be alert to protect yourself if there is wind, this might be pre-avalanche sign. After about half an hour walk from Deurali, we will find ourselves in middle of river bed surrounded by giant snow-covered mountains. When the sun rises, the snow on mountains shine and river valley is filled with warm sun rays. We reach Bagar. The hike to MBC is somewhat strenuous but the unfolding views of the majestic Machhapuchre are certainly a rewarding experience. Enjoy the views of Mt. Hiunchuli, Annapurna South, Annapurna I, Annapurna III, Gangapurna and of course, the Fishtail or Machhapuchhare itself. Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Day 7MBC to ABC

On the way to ABC from MBC, the vegetation disappears. We’ll see the snow boulders melting and forming small streams. The path widens as we enter the sanctuary, follows a stream, and then climbs to a few huts alongside a moraine. There are sensational views of the near-vertical south face of Annapurna towering above the sanctuary. Annapurna Base Camp sanctuary boasts of a dynamic view without anything impeding panorama of the 360 degrees. Savor the mesmerizing views of the Machhapuchre, Annapurna south, Annapurna I, Hiuchuli and other peaks. Climax of our trip almost ends today. Overnight in Annapurna Base Camp.

Day 8ABC to Bamboo

Get up in the early morning and savor the magnificent sunrise over the Himalayas from ABC. After taking breakfast, we start descending from ABC to Bamboo back through MBC, Deurali, Dovan and finally reach Bamboo. Heading back down to the valley is much easier than climbing up. You will see the waterfalls that drop down from a high point to the rocks below. We pass through the forests with great views of Fishtail and Hiunchuli mountains. Overnight in Bamboo.

Day 9Bamboo to New Bridge/Jhinu Dada

From Bamboo we make a steep ascent to the Kuldi Ghar and then to Sinuwa following the stone steps that leads to Lower Chhomrong. Then we ascend on the thousand stony steps taking us to Upper Chhomrong. From Chhomrong we descend to Jhinu Danda. We today get opportunity to enjoy hot springs lying just a 15-min walk from Jhinu Danda. Overnight in Jhinu Dada.

Day 10Jhinu Dada to Naya Pul to Pokhara

Today, the trek starts from Jhinu Danda to New Bridge and then onto Kyumi village. The trekking trail is easy and mostly downhill, making a smooth walk with beautiful views along the way. Once we reach kyumi village, we will drive towards pokhara.  Overnight in Pokhara.

Day 11Drive to Kathmandu

Today, you will drive back towards Kathmandu. Upon arrival in Kathmandu, you will be transferred to your hotel. In the Today, you will drive back towards Kathmandu. Upon arrival in Kathmandu, you will be transferred to your hotel. In the evening, we’ll have a farewell dinner to celebrate our trip’s success and share stories of our experience with everyone. Stay overnight in Kathmandu.

Day 12Departure Day

You are saying good bye to the mountains as your journey in Nepal comes to an end today! We take you to the airport for your flight time. We hope you enjoyed the trek, and are sure you will be back trekking somewhere in the Himalaya again. Approximately 3 hours before your scheduled flight a representative from Black Diamond will take you to the airport and bid farewell. On your way home you’ll have plenty of time to plan your next adventure in the wonderful country of Nepal. Breakfast

Accomodation

During your adventurous journey to Annapurna Base Camp, Black Diamond will ensure you have a comfortable and enjoyable stay. In Kathmandu, you will be accommodated in Hotel Encounter Nepal or a similar category of accommodation. As you commence your hike, you will be staying in standard teahouses/lodges.  Most teahouses or lodges serve rooms on a twin-sharing basis with an attached bathroom and hot shower facilities. Single-supplement rooms are served with an extra charge of USD 495. You may have to share a bathroom and toilets in the teahouses in this trekking region in both lower and higher elevations. In spite of that, we will always make sure to book you the best possible accommodation at Annapurna Base Camp.

Your meal plan in Kathmandu includes breakfast, providing the perfect start to each day. During the trek, you will be served a  three-course meal. At the teahouses where we spend an overnight during the trek, you will be served a balanced and nourishing breakfast and dinner. For Lunch, we will stop at one of the teahouses along the way to our next destination. Black Diamond has also arranged a special Welcome and Farewell dinner for our guests. Best time to trek Annapurna Base Camp

The best time to hike the Annapurna Base Camp is Autumn (September to November) and Spring (March to May).  These seasons offer the most favorable weather and trekking conditions with moderate temperatures, clear skies, and mesmerizing natural scenery.  During the month of  October, you will also have a chance to experience the major festivals of Nepalese people, Dashain and Tihar. During both seasons, the trails are easily navigable, and the teahouses along the route are fully operational.

How hard is it to climb Annapurna Base Camp?

Annapurna base camp difficulty level is fairly demanding due to its long duration trek at a high altitude and unpredictable trail conditions. Despite the challenges, the trek can be completed with proper preparation and determination as it does not require any technical mountaineering expertise. It is also important to follow appropriate safety measures while doing the trek. We also can make arrangements for the porters to do heavy lifting for you. What is the best time to trek to Annapurna Base Camp?

The months during fall(September-October-November) and spring (March-April-May) are considered as the best time for Annapurna Base Camp trek. In this season the temperature is moderate with clear sky and the dry trails, which gives us ample opportunity to admire the majestic view of mountain ranges with perfect trekking conditions. During the months of winter (December-February) the temperature is extremely cold with heavy snowfall and during the months of monsoon (June-August) there is heavy rainfall and the trail is slippery with leeches on the way. During the winter and monsoon you should take extra precautions as the unfavorable condition makes it difficult to trek. If you like to trek when there are few tourists, winter and monsoon are the best times and you can get an extra discount on top.
