Annapurna Base Camp Trekking is one of the most demanding trekking destinations in Nepal. To reach the base of Mt. Annapurna I (8,091m/26,539ft), the 10th highest peak and was first submitted 8000m peak in the planet, is rewarding in itself. Annapurna Base Camp Trekking trail offers you an opportunity to view the tropical as well as alpine regions at the foot of 7000 m and 8000 m peaks. This trek also offers breathtaking landscapes and the pristine culture of diverse ethnic groups of people. Along the way, close up view of Himalayas including Mt. Annapurna I, Annapurna South, Hiuchuli, Fishtail and many other other peaks above 7000m come into the sight.
The 13 day Annapurna Base Camp Trekking starts from the cultural city of Kathmandu and ends at Kathmandu. Next day of arrival in Kathmandu, you will explore the UNESCO World Heritage Sites and then the following day we will be driven to naturally beautiful city of Pokhara. Passing through beautiful terraced field, waterfalls, beautiful and traditional villages, forest of rhododendron and oak, pasture land, we reach at an abode of Himalayan wonders of Machhapuchre Base Camp (3,700m) and then in Annapurna Base Camp (4,130m). The return trail also offers mesmerizing view of landscapes and Himalayas as well as relaxing time in Hot Spring at Jhinu Danda.
Upon arrival in the Kathmandu Airport (TIA), you will be welcomed and greeted by our representative and then transfer to the hotel. After check in, you can either take rest; hang around in the city as it all depends upon your interests. In the evening, we will organize a Welcome Dinner at an excellent traditional Nepalese restaurant where you will enjoy a Nepalese cultural program as well as a fine meal.

After breakfast, break the day with guided tour to several of the most historical and spiritual attractions of Kathmandu. The first visit is made in Swayambhunath Stupa- oldest stupa situated on the hillock. Enjoy the bird eyes view of Kahtmandu Valley and mountains. After then visit Kahtmandu Durbar Square – Palace of Malla and then Shah King of Nepal. Visit Kumari Ghar (living goddes), Kasthamandap (made up of single tree), Hanuman Dhoka (Gate to enter the palace) and many more temples. Finally visit in Patan Durbar Square- city of fine art and architecture. Visit Krishna Temple, Palace square, Mahabauddha, Mahabihar and many more temples and master piece monuments. Late afternoon, there will be a pre-trip discussion where we can meet our trek leader and other team members. Today we are going towards naturally beautiful city Pokhara, destination of adventurous activities and gateway of trekking in Annapurna Region. After breakfast, we drive towards the tourist bus stand. After then our six hours pleasurable drive begins passing through beautiful landscapes along the Trishuli River and Marshyangdi River. On the way, our coach stops twice, one for breakfast and another for lunch. Upon arrival in Pokhara afternoon, check into the hotel and take a rest. Late afternoon we enjoy the boating on Fewa Lake and visit Barahi Temple. Evening is free on your own. Overnight in Pokhara.

Today is the beginning day of our trek. Early morning after breakfast we drive up to Nayapul and then start our trek. We walk gradually along the Modi Khola passing the check post of ACAP. After passing metal bridge, we take the right turn and walk along the Modi Khola towards Syauli Bazzar. Up to Syauli Bazzar the trail is gradual up and then we walk steep up through the stone steps passing beautiful small villages up to Ghandruk. Finally after about 6 hours walk we reach Ghandruk village also popular as a village of stone houses, inhabited by the Gurung people. We enjoy the stunning close up view of Mt. Annapurna South, Hiuchuli and Fishtail as well as acquaint ourselves with the simple but rich cultural traditions of the Gurung people.

After leisure breakfast, we start the trek. Today the trail is ups and down and through the dense forest of Oak and rhododendron. First, we climb up for an hour and then steep descent to Kimron Khola. Then we again climb up to Taulung and then steep descend and horizontal walk for an hour. After then steep climb continues up to Chomrong. From Chomrong we can see the towering mighty peak of Annapurna South and Fishtail.

Today we walk along the Modi Khola and through the thick and dark rhododendron forest. After leisure breakfast, we leave the Chomrong village crossing the suspension bridge and then steep climb to Sinuwa. From Sinuwa, further trail is gradual up through dense forest till Khuldighar. Further, we descend a long and steep stone steps till Bamboo. Then crossing the bridge, we walk gradual up for about 2 hours and reach Dovan.

Today all the way is gradual up along the Modi Khola. We walk through the thick bamboo, oak and rhododendron forests passing the canyon. After Himalaya Hotel, we cross two small streams. There is also a possibility to see wildlife such as deer, snow leopard, pig and different kind of birds. Enjoying the peace nature, passing by Hinko Cave we finally reach in Deurali.

Today we reach the main destination of our trek, Annapurna Base Camp. We begin our trek climbing gently through a river bed of Bagar. In the route, we find ourselves surrounded by the giant snowcapped mountains. The strenuous hike to Machhapuchre Base Camp (MBC- 3700m) is neutralized by the spectacular view of Mt. Fishtail, Mt. Hiunchuli, Annapurna South, Annapurna I, Annapurna III and Gangapurna. From MBC the vegetation disappears. Further, we hike for another 2 to 3 hours passing through few huts alongside a moraine and enjoying the view of close up vertical south face of Annapurna and reach Annapurna Base Camp. 360 degrees panoramic view of Mt. Fishtail, Annapurna South, Annapurna I, Hiuchuli and other peaks are awesome.

Early in the morning catch the magnificent sunrise view over the Himalayas. After breakfast, we descend back all the way to Bamboo passing MBC, Deurali and Dovan. All the way Himalayas view fascinate us. Descending along the Modi Khola, passing through the forest, finally we reach in Bamboo.

Today’s trail is ups and down. Initially, we make a steep ascent up to Kuldi Ghar and then steep descent to Sinuwa and then to lower Chomorong. From there we again climb to Chomrong and then descent continuously to Jhinu Danda. Late afternoon we take a bath at hot spring in Jhinu Danda.

We trek from Jhinu danda to New bridge and then to Kyumi village. After lunch we trek to Sayali bazar and then down to Birethanti. From Birethanti, a half-an-hour’s trek takes us to Naya Pul. The trek ends at Naya Pul. From Naya Pul we take a vehicle and reach Pokhara in about an hour. We might take opportunity to visit some more places around Pokhara until evening. Overnight in Pokhara.

After early breakfast drive towards Tourist Bus Park to catch a Tourist Coach to Kathmandu. After 6 hours leisure drive along the Marshyangdi River and Trishuli River; and enjoying the beautiful landscapes we reach in Kathmandu late afternoon. Transfer to hotel and relax. Evening you can do last minute shopping in Thamel Area. Late evening we celebrate the success of our trek taking dinner together. Overnight in Kathmandu.

You will be accommodated in Hotel Encounter Nepal or a similar category’s hotel in Kathmandu; and basic tea houses/guest houses during the trek when trekking with Black Diamond Expedition. On most Annapurna Treks, the tea houses or lodges serve rooms on a twin-sharing basis with an attached bathroom and hot shower facilities. Single-supplement rooms are served with an extra charge of USD 495. However, it may be difficult to get one in higher points or during peak season trekking. Some of the tea houses in this trekking region in both lower and higher elevations may have shared bathroom and toilet facilities. Your meal plan in Kathmandu includes only breakfast while a three-course meal will be served during the trekking. The tea house where we spend an overnight will serve us a balanced diet for breakfast and dinner whereas lunch is taken at one of the tea houses on the way to our next destination. Black Diamonds has also prepared a special Welcome and Farewell dinner for the guests following a cultural performance.
The best time for Annapurna Base Camp trek are Autumn (Sept to Dec) and Spring (March to May). The weather is sunny and warm making the views outstanding in these seasons. The weather condition is the primary issue during the Winter (Jan to Feb) season for trekking to Everest Base Camp. The region offers a freezing cold during winter. Just opposite to this, ABC trek gets affected by monsoon during Summer/ rainy season (June to August). Nevertheless, this time is the appropriate time for a keen and enthusiastic Botanist.

The months during fall(September-October-November) and spring (March-April-May) are considered as the best time for Annapurna Base Camp trek. In this season the temperature is moderate with clear sky and the dry trails, which gives us ample opportunity to admire the majestic view of mountain ranges with perfect trekking conditions. During the months of winter (December-February) the temperature is extremely cold with heavy snowfall and during the months of monsoon (June-August) there is heavy rainfall and the trail is slippery with leeches on the way. During the winter and monsoon you should take extra precautions as the unfavorable condition makes it difficult to trek. If you like to trek when there are few tourists, winter and monsoon are the best times and you can get an extra discount on top.
