Driving from Kathmandu onward Tibet via Nepal Tibet friendship border to Rongbuk to Everest Base Camp pass through the high passes and rugged terrain and an incredible formation of the highest plateau of the world is really fascinated. Driving across the bare barren Tibetan Plateau to the spectacular Rongbuk Valley and Everest Base Camp is the most highlighted. The views of the north face of Mt. Everest from Rongbuk and Everest base camp are simply sensational.
Remaining tour onward is through the local Tibetan villages en route which are untouched by modern civilization and onward few Tibetan cities, Shighatse, Gyantse and Lhasa that contents its own significances in history and architecture.
Early in the morning after breakfast, drive from Kathmandu to Nepal-Tibet border (Kodari) by private vehicle. After completing the necessary immigration and customs formalities in border drive towards Zhangmu, the Tibetan border town and meet Tibetan Guide. After immigration formalities in Zhangmu continue the scenic drive to Nyalam. Throughout the journey enjoy the fantastic view of landscapes, rivers, deep valley with some overflowing waterfalls. Overnight at Nyalam.
Morning, take a short walk around Nyalam which would help to acclimatize against high altitude. After breakfast drive towards Tingri crossing the Nyalam pass (3,800 m) and Lalung La pass (5,082 m). Enjoy the great Himalayas view from the both passes including Mt. Everest (8,848 m), Jugal Himal, Mt. Makalu (8,464 m) along with many other. Overnight at Lotingri or Old Tingri.
After breakfast easy and short drive to Ronbuk and visit Ronbuk monastery – the highest monastery in Tibet lies on the lap of the highest mountain, Mt. Everest (8,848 m). Enjoy the marvelous, unique and face to face view of Mt. Everest with the famous Ronbuk Glacier (one of the largest glaciers) nearby, which would be definitely the great lifetime experience. After then drive 16 km round trip by local bus to the Everest Base Camp. The dream of travel enthusiasts comes true while reached in a truly awe-inspiring place with the sheer north face of the highest mountain in the world towering to the sky. In the evening drive back to Ronbuk and overnight.
Morning, enjoy the sunrise view over Mt. Everest. After breakfast drive towards Lhatse via Shegar crossing the Gyamtso La (5,220 m) pass, the highest pass of the journey. After then trail descends to the plains, pass monasteries and temporary houses of nomadic herders. After passing Shegar, road turned to the Friendship Highway and head south over the Pang La (5150 m) towards the main Himalayas, which offers the stunning uninterrupted view of Himalayas from Makalu to Shishapangma. After 5.5 hours scenic and adventurous drive, finally reach Lhatse. Overnight at Lhatse.
After breakfast drive to Sakya and visit Sakya Monastery which is one of the largest monasteries in Tibet and is home to the Sakya sect of Buddhism. It contains thousands of statues, paintings, murals, stupas, mandalas, and other holy objects, as well as libraries of scriptures in Tibetan, Chinese, Mongolian, and Sanskrit piled from floor to ceiling. Continue the drive to Shigatse. On the way visit Natang Monastery which contains oldest printing house and collection of Tibetan printing blocks and hand-copied Buddhist scriptures. In the evening reach Shigatse, the second biggest city in Tibet. Overnight at Shigatse.
Morning visit Tashilhunpo Monastery- one of the six big monasteries of the Gelug Sect of Tibetan Buddhism and the home of the Panchen Lama, which is located on the hillside overlooking Shigatse northwest of the town. The main structures found here are the Maitreya Chapel and Kelsang Temple. After then drive towards Gyantse. En-route visit Shalu Monastery which is architecturally distinctive with the perfect combination of Han and Tibet architectural styles. Continue the drive to Gyantse which has a variety of important cultural and historical sites. Upon arrival in Gyantse proceed for sightseeing of Khumbum Stupa- an extraordinary architectural masterpiece with its nine levels rise in the manner of a step pyramid made it one of the most distinctive temples in the world, Palkhor Chode Monastery- houses Sakyapa, Kadampa and Gelugpa sects together and has combined characters of Han, Tibetan and Nepali architecture and Gyantse Dzong- one of the best preserved dzongs in Tibet, situated high above the town of Gyantse on a huge grey brown rock. Overnight at Gyantsey.
After breakfast drive towards Lhasa. The highlight of this day is the Yamdrok Lake (turquoise Tso), which is one of the three holy lakes in Tibet and one of the most beautiful lakes in the world. After crossing the Karo La (5010 m) and Kamba- La (4794 m), the marvelous view of Yamdrok Lake appears. Further, cross the Yarlung Tsangpo (Brahmaputra River) and have the distance view of Potala Palace. After 6 hours pleasant and scenic drives, finally reach the city of wonders, Lhasa. Overnight at Lhasa.
After breakfast, have an easy visit to Sera Monastery- the second largest Gelugpa university monasteries in Tibet, is well-preserved monastery of white-washed walls and golden roofs. After then visit Norbulingka- the summer palace of the Dalai Lama. Finally, visit Jokhang Monastery and Barkhor Market- Jokhang Monastery is the most revered and sacred shrine in all of Tibet and is constantly bustling with devotees. Barkhor Market is a very ancient round street surrounding the Jokhang Monastery and is a good place to purchase souvenirs.
Today tour begins with a visit to Potala Palace- highest palace in the world and is Lhasa’s cardinal landmark which offers an awesome view of the entire city. It is the ideal example of architectural work and is mostly renowned as residence of the Dalai Lama lineages. Later visit Drepung Monastery- the largest monastery among the great three Gelugpa university monasteries which was used to be the residence of the Dalai Lamas until the Great Fifth Dalai Lama constructed the Potala Palace. Evening is free. Overnight at Lhasa.
Today is the departure day from Lhasa. After breakfast, free till departure time. Transfer to the airport for onward journey.
