Poonhill Trek or Ghorepani Poonhill Trek offers great value for those who have less time and wish to see the Annapurna Range and Dhaulagiri Range. Reaching a maximum altitude of 3210m is a relatively easy trek that anyone with a normal level of fitness would easily undertake. The view from the Poon Hill is considered as the best viewpoint in the Annapurna region and perhaps one of the most beautiful viewpoints that exist on this earth.

Start from a Kathmandu city observing old temples and monuments, you take a scenic drive to Pokhara and then to Nayapul to commence the trek. Passing through Gurung villages and rhododendron forests, observing local culture and food, catching the sight of hidden Himalayas on the way energizes enough to reach the great viewpoint, the Poonhill. After seeing the breathtaking magnificent sunrise view over Annapurna and Dhaulagiri range from Poonhill, the memories remain in for the lifetime.

Upon arrival in the Kathmandu airport (TIA), you will be greeted by a representative from Black Diamond at the arrival gate. You will be then transferred to the hotel. After check in, you can either take a rest; hang around in the city as it all depends upon your interests. In the evening, we will organize a Welcome Dinner at an excellent traditional Nepalese restaurant where you will enjoy a Nepalese cultural program as well as a fine meal. Overnight in Kathmandu.

Today we visit 3 UNESCO Cultural World Heritage Sites among 7 of the Kathmandu Valley. First we visit Kathmandu Durbar Square- palace of Malla and Shah King Dynasties, Kal Vhairav- deity of justice, living goddess Kumari and if lucky we get a blessing from her, visit Kasthamandap Temple- built by single tree, Maru Ganesh- one of the four main Ganesh Temples without pinnacle on the roof and many more legendary temples. After then we proceed towards Swayambhunath Stupa- the oldest stupa more than 2500 years old, situated on the hillock from where we can see the 360 degree bird eyes view of Kathmandu Valley. We visit peace pond, main stupa, Harati Temple, Shantipur, Pratap Malla Turm, Agnipura, Nagpura, different monasteries, chortons and temples. Finally, we drive towards Patan Durbar Square- the oldest city in Kathmandu Valley full of art and architecture. We visit Krishna Temple- made up of a single stone in Shikhara style, medieval palace and courtyards, Mahabihar, Maha Baudha Temple and many more temples and monuments. Then we drive back to the hotel. Late afternoon, we organize trek briefing session where we will meet our trek guide and other crew members. If you have any question then can put forward for free discussion. Evening you might shop around for your personal trek gears. Overnight in Kathmandu.

Today we are going towards naturally beautiful city Pokhara, the destination of adventurous activities and gateway of trekking in Annapurna Region. After breakfast, we drive towards the tourist bus stand. After then our six hours pleasurable drive begins passing through beautiful landscapes along the Trishuli River and Marshyangdi River. On the way, our coach stops twice, one for breakfast and another for lunch. Upon arrival in Pokhara afternoon, check into the hotel and do a rest. Late afternoon we enjoy the boating on Fewa Lake and visit Barahi Temple. Evening is free on your own. Overnight in Pokhara.

Today is the beginning day of our trek. Early morning after breakfast we drive up to Nayapul and then start our trek. We walk gradually along the Modi Khola passing the check post of ACAP. After passing metal bridge, we take a left turn to Birethanti Village. The walk is gradual up till the Tikhedhunga. We take a lunch in Hile just below the Tikhedhunga and then climb steep up for two hours through thousands of steps up to Ulleri. On the way, we will be greeted by Annapurna South. After 6 hours trek, we reach Ulleri in the late afternoon.

After breakfast, we start ascend continuously to Ghorepani. Today the trail is through the shade of Oak and rhododendron forest, so the walk is pleasurable than the day before. Passing by a beautiful village of Banthanti and Nayathanti, crossing the small Bhurungdi River we reach in the big village of Ghorepani. Ghorepani in Nepali means horse-water owing to its role as an important campsite for traders before it became a trekker’s stop. Ghorepani offers a marvelous close-up panoramic view of Mt. Annapurna South, Nilgiri and Dhaulagiri. We begin to feel the chilly weather here.

Early morning we hike to Poonhill to catch first rays of a sun over the Himalayas. Poonhill (3210m/10,529ft) is one of the best viewpoints on earth from where we can enjoy the wonderful panoramic views of the Mustang part and Pokhara valley including the closest views of more than 20 snow capped mountains including Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges. After mesmerizing view we descend to Ghorepani and having breakfast we continue our trek to Tadapani. Today’s trail is all the way descending but with little ups somewhere. We pass by the lush forest of Oak and rhododendron, different beautiful villages and spectacular waterfalls and streams along the way to Tadapani.

Today is short and easy walk. We descend all the way to Ghandruk through the dense and dark forest of rhododendron. We are mesmerized by the beautiful view of Mt. Annapurna South and Mt. Fishtail along the way. Crossing small streams and passing by small villages we reach Ghandruk by afternoon. Late afternoon we explore the beautiful of Ghandruk and rich culture of Gurung people. Ghandruk offers stunningly close up towering view of Annapurna South, Hiuchuli and Fishtail mountains.

Today, we trek from Ghandruk to Naya Pul then drive to Pokhara. The trek is downhill all the way to Birethanti. We step onto a staircase paved with stone slabs, curving in and out of the village and then terraced farms. It keeps going down almost without breaks from Ghandruk until Modi Khola river valley. By the time we arrive at Birethanti, some of us would feel like having made a downhill marathon. But our marathon is not over yet. From Birethanti, a half an hour's walk takes us to Naya Pul. The journey on foot comes to an end at Nayapul. Then we drive from Nayapul to Pokhara. Evening is free on your own. Overnight in Pokhara.

Today we are driving back to Kathmandu. After early breakfast we drive towards Tourist Bus Park and drive back to Kathmandu via same route. After 6 hours scenic and pleasurable drive we reach in Kathmandu by late afternoon. Transfer to hotel and rest. Evening is free and can do last minute shopping around Thamel area.
