Ganesh Himal Base Camp Trek

Ganesh Himal Base Camp Trekking is one of the legendary “Hidden Valleys” treks of the Himalayas. This trekking offers superb close views of Langtang range, Ganesh Himal, Bouddha Himal, Shringi Himal, Manaslu range, Lamjung Himal, Himalchuli, Annapurna range and many other unnamed mountains and peaks of central Himalayas. Presence of the Precious stone crystals, twin water fall Ganga and Jamuna, Kukur Dhara (Dog Spring), Kalo Seto Kunda (Black White Lake) are some specific natural feature of the Ganesh Himal region. This is a purely camping and moderate trek.

Starting from the Samari Bhanjyang, Ganesh Himal Base Camp Trekking trail covers huge geographical diversity and leads from tropical to pine forest and then alpine meadows to a huge glacier below the snow capped peaks. The trail passes through narrow gorges, pine, rhododendron and oak forests, highland meadows and also provides a chance to see different species of birds and wild animals. Along the trail, there is an opportunity to interact with different ethnic groups such as Tamang, Gurung, Brahmin, Chhetri, Newar and some others which help to understand their tradition closely. Ganesh Himal Base Camp trek also offers to explore untouched culture and Hindu as well as Buddhist pilgrimage sites. Best tip to complete the trek will be exercising and jogging regularly for some weeks prior of the trip to enhance your strength and stability. The effects of high altitude on humans are considerable. The percentage saturation of hemoglobin with oxygen determines the content of oxygen in our blood. After the human body reaches around 2,100 m (7,000 feet) above sea level, the saturation of oxyhemoglobin begins to plummet. However, the human body has both short-term and long-term adaptations to altitude that allow it to partially compensate for the lack of oxygen. Athletes use these adaptations to help their performance. There is a limit to the level of adaptation: mountaineers refer to the altitudes above 8,000 meters (26,000 ft) as the "death zone", where no human body can acclimatize. The itinerary for Ganesh Himal Base Camp Trek is designed to minimize the risk of AMS (Altitude Mountain Sickness).

Leader(s) & Staff Arrangements
To make your Ganesh Himal Base Camp Trek, enjoyable and memorable the most important thing you need to realize is the skilled, experienced, courteous and helpful trek leader and the crew members with the ability to operate your duration in the mountain smoothly. Your trip will be led by the best and most professional leaders that we can offer from our side. All of our trekking leaders are carefully selected on the basis of their appropriate experience, leadership skills, and personal aptitude. With an objective of sustaining local communities, Black Diamond only employs Nepalese staffs who have fact and up-to-date knowledgeable about the culture, ecosystem, flora, fauna, geography, and history of Nepal. Trek leaders of Black Diamond are also trained with following trainings to make them educated on potential medical issues during their trek, biodiversity and environmental issues, English language, etc:

  • Intensive Wilderness First Aid
  • Trekking Guide Training
  • Eco Trekking Workshop & Adventure Meet
  • English Language
  • Conservation and Biodiversity
  • Rock climbing, Ice Climbing and Mountaineering (for expedition leaders)

Porter Care
Though often overlooked, it's no exaggeration to say the entire trekking and expedition industry in Nepal is built on the back of hard working local porters. It is their tireless efforts carrying supplies, equipment and baggage that make journeying to these remote areas possible. So it's very unfortunate that they have endured a history of exploitation and abuse at the hands of the industry. In an effort to combat this, we are firmly committed to porter rights. We ensure all our porters are well treated, well paid and we provide the level of shelter, clothing and footwear that these harsh environments demand. Porters who become sick are treated with the same care and attention as other team members and we have previously used helicopters - at our expense - to rescue porters from dangerous situations. And for the porter's sake we require that all trekkers keep their luggage bag weight under 15kgs/33 pounds. We support the work of the International Porter Protection Group (IPPG), making our resources available to them to help improve the working conditions of the porters.

Environmental Concerns
The Ganesh Himal Base Camp Trekking Trail is stunningly beautiful, but equally fragile. Future generations have just as much of a right to appreciate it as we do and so the tourism industry has an obligation to protect and preserve it. We employ a 'zero impact' policy on the natural environment and the traditional communities that live there. We enforce a number of do's and don'ts, and our experienced staffs can advise you on how to minimize your impact.

Best Season
March to May and October to November are the best months for the Trek. The weather is sunny and warm, with outstanding views but the nights are cold and can fall to freezing. Even in the monsoon (Jun, Jul and Aug) we can do Ganesh Himal Base Camp Trek since it lies in the rain shadow region. Winter (Dec, Jan, Feb) is more adventurous since the way in highlands are covered by snow.
