We visit the monastery in the afternoon which is just 20 minutes walking distance from the farmhouse. Back to the camp site and overnight.

Today our trek begins. We walk all the way through the village following the valley upwards. The path is easy and many shepherds use this trail to go for the high pastures with their animals. We may encounter with some wildlife as marmots and blue sheep. The trail goes along the Chumathang River, so we can found sufficient water and plenty camping sites. After 5 hours walk, we reach Gangra from where the scenery is so attractive and we camp there.

Today is the short walking day. Before leaving we can explore the fine scenery or just relax in the sun. Today is long and quite tough day as we have to cross Choku- la which is the highest point of this trek. We proceed very early in the morning through a ridge, the valley of Sumdo and ascend to reach Choku- la. From this pass the view of surrounding mountains and valley is outstanding. Further, we walk towards Phayalung passing through the plateau after plateau, Sengnapo-Tso Lake, and finally climb over a ridge again to reach a shepherds place where we set our camp.

After breakfast we proceed ahead along the river passing numerous Sheppard places around and desert plateau named as Lhato; we reach in a small lake with a gorge on the left side of the river. After passing this gorge we can catch a fine view of big blue Yayatso with its surrounding short meadows, grazing goats and yaks and the small village of Yaya.  Yayetso is one of the most beautiful lakes in the Changthang area. We camp next to one of the several small rivers leading to Yayetso and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere exploring the local culture.

Trip reviews

Annapurna round trek was well organized by Raj from BDEx. Gide Amrit Pandey is very skilled and intelligent. Weather on the trek was rather different so we were about ready to turn back from Pissang. Nevertheless next day was clean and we immediately decided to continue. Finally we did Thorang La 5416 m. On the way we saw many people coming back because of deep snow. I am happy that we were lucky to pass Thorang La on second day after it was opened. Many thanks for the trip to BDEx and my guide!!!
